GroundUp Systems Ltd is a company incorporated in the United Kingdom. We provide a platform for managing, analyzing, and collaborating on geotechnical data.

2.1 Personal Information

When you register for an account, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address

We do not collect payment information or marketing preferences at this time.

2.2 Technical & Usage Information

We automatically collect technical data to help us improve the Service. This includes:

  • Browser type and device
  • IP address and location
  • Actions taken on the platform (e.g. page views, button clicks)
  • Session duration and usage behavior

This is collected using analytics tools (see Section 5).

2.3 Uploaded Content

As part of using GroundUp, you may upload geotechnical files (e.g. AGS, gINT) and related data. This content is processed and stored temporarily in our databases for your use. You retain full ownership of this data (see Section 6).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Provide access to the platform and its features
  • Ensure platform stability and security
  • Analyze usage for product improvement
  • Respond to support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

We use the following tools for analytics and hosting:

  • PostHog: Product analytics (self-hosted or cloud-based via EU/UK data centers)
  • Vercel Analytics: Traffic and performance metrics
  • AWS: Hosting infrastructure (EU/UK regions)
  • Neon: Managed database (hosted via AWS)

These providers may process limited data (e.g. IP address, device info) to provide their services. We only work with vendors that adhere to strict data protection standards.

6. Data Storage and Retention

6.1 Uploaded Data

User-uploaded data is stored temporarily in our databases during processing and usage. You retain full ownership of this data. You may export or delete your data at any time via your account or by contacting us.

6.2 Personal Data

We retain personal account data (name, email) for as long as your account is active. Upon deletion:

  • All personal data is permanently deleted
  • Uploaded geotechnical data is removed from our systems
  • No backups or residual data are retained

7. Cookies

We use cookies to:

  • Maintain your login session (functional)
  • Analyze usage patterns (analytics)

You can control cookie preferences via your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect platform functionality.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

However, no system is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk.

We may update this Privacy Policy as we improve the platform or as laws change. Continued use of the Service indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
